Hi everyone! This is Haruna. Today I would like to tour you all to Kamakura, one of the popular sightseeing places in Kanagawa prefecture (a prefecture next to Tokyo). As it was a half-day trip, the places I can introduce are limited, but I would recommend you visiting the Kamakura places and eat the Kamakura foods introduced below!

For a brief introduction, Kamakura used to be the political central city during the Medieval Kamakura era (from the end of the 12th century to the mid 14th century.) There are many historical and traditional temples, foods, and cultures still preserved in Kamakura.

Let’s begin with the Great Buddha statue at Koutoku-In.

This is the symbol statue of Kamakura built 750 years ago. It has about 444.9-inch height and 121t weight.

You can actually get inside the statue before it closes!

Next is Tsurugaoka Hachiman-Gu.

The beautiful temple locates in the center of the Kamakura. It was built in 1063 and this is the starting place of Kamakura government completed by a famous samurai, Minamoto no Yoritomo. Spring is the best season for you to visit since there will be cherry blossoms!

Ei Sho-ji (temple), where it is famous for bamboo grove (the similar and longer bamboo grove locates in Arashiyama, Kyoto prefecture).

I wasn’t able to visit the following places, but it is definitely worth going!

Meigetsu-In (Worth to visit in June since there will be hydrangea welcoming you!)

Edoden Electric Railroad Kamakura High School Station

(You may have seen in the Japanese anime!)

Yuigahama (A beautiful sea!)

Foods that I ate in Kamakura!

Kokuriko No Crape.

The cream cheese lemon sugar crape was brilliantly delicious!

Soy sauce rice cracker that just baked

Tori Sabure (Famous bird-shaped cookie) with the statue of Buddha HAHA

Some coffee time

*Cute souvenirs (These are chopstick stands)

Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you!
